| Customer Reviews: A Serious Disappointment August 31, 2010 Edward I ordered the SDR-HR85P video camera ( blue ) on August 3rd and received it on August 8th. We left for an extended vacation in the Sierras for two weeks.
I studied the manual before going site seeing and thought I would be fine. One reason I purchased the camera was it was suppose to have the capability of capturing stills on the internal hard drive or a memory card. I did the video with no problem but the camera would not store the stills on the memory card or the hard drive. Once I turned the camera off and restarted to download the still pictures to my computer the stills were gone. This happened twice and I called Panasonic. I was told the extended warranty that I paid extra for to have the camera repaired locally could not be used until the manufacturer's warranty had expired. I contacted CameraKings, the company that sold me the camera, by e-mail on August 29th and they were having problems with their Web site so I should call. I called Tuesday since they were not available on Sunday. When I did get a person I was told that time period for returns to their supplier was 7 days and 21 days for unopened packages. They also had a 15% restocking fee. The only thing I can do with this brand new camera is pay to have it shipped back to the manufacturer to see if they can repair it. Not only am I unhappy with the camera losing 2 days worth of stills but it did poorly in low light and landscapes of the mountains we went to view. I'm very unhappy with CameraKings return policy and would recommend not using this supplier.
The Digital Camcorder is not high definition. August 4, 2010 John Gutierrez (Colombia) 0 out of 9 found this review helpful

Excellent product, easy to use, great video.
I would have liked an external mic input option, but the internal mic is still pretty good.
fair camera for a fair price July 2, 2010 katers933 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Like the other reviews say, it does take fuzzy video in low light. But for being so cheap and convienient, it's a good camera. I took various video when my child was born and the battery still showed a full charge. Don't expect movie quality shots, but for quick, worry-less, don't stress out if you drop it home video-making, this camera is what your looking for.
The 78x zoom is amazing as well. It has the anti-shake feature that really works. I can't believe how far this thing zooms in and takes clear shots. And for those who don't know, having the internal hard drive is awesome. Don't mess with the disc or external memory cameras.
If you want high-definition, "blu-ray" shots, spend the extra cash for the true HD cameras, but for me this camera is perfect.
